Stroud Cricket Club

Azimuth Structural Engineering were approached by Stroud Cricket Club to assist with construction of a new pavilion at their new ground adjacent to the River Frome. A flood risk assessment indicated that the ground floor of the new pavilion would need to be raised around 1.2 metres above ground level.

Working closely with the provider of the Scandinavian timber pavilion structure, Artichouse, in Finland a piled solution was developed that allowed a raised deck to be constructed, utilising pre-cast concrete planks to enable rapid construction and provide restraint to the piles without the need to cast additional reinforced concrete tie beams.

Architect: Artichouse (Finland)
Piling & Groundworks Contractor: Viking Piling
Completion Date: 2011
